Set the assumptions you can defend

This is a scenario calculator, not a lending rule or financial recommendation. Use after-tax income and include the workspace or utility costs required to make the home usable.

Estimated base-rent ceiling$1,300
Total recurring housing$1,750
Simple move-in cash$3,050

Move-in cash equals base rent for the first month plus the selected deposit months, utilities, and coworking. It does not include advance rent, taxes, platform or broker fees, furniture, temporary lodging, currency fees, travel, or an emergency reserve.

Read the output correctly

A ceiling is a constraint, not a target

Lower the share when income is volatile, savings are thin, debt or family support is high, healthcare is uncertain, or the lease is difficult to exit.

Include the whole housing system

Add utilities, internet, required workspace, fees, transport effects, furnishings, insurance, and the cost of leaving.

Questions the sliders do not answer

A simple number becomes useful only after the property, contract, payment path, and exit have been checked.

What should I add to the move-in estimate?

Advance rent, taxes, building or cleaning fees, platform or broker charges, furniture, temporary accommodation, payment and currency fees, transport, insurance, and a reserve for delays or disputes.

Does a refundable deposit count as a cost?

It creates cash exposure and return risk even when it is expected back. Document the property condition, inventory, payment, legal terms, and return procedure.

Can I use gross income?

After-tax, reliably available monthly income is a more conservative starting point. Adjust for irregular income, business costs, home-country obligations, savings goals, and debt.

Is the calculator private?

The JavaScript performs the calculation on the page. It does not submit, save, or transmit the slider values. The site contains no account or calculator-storage feature.

Does the estimate verify a listing or lease?

No. Verify the property, owner or agent, contract, payment destination, local law, and your right to rent. Obtain local professional support when the transaction or law is unfamiliar.
